Actions of the Board
2008.01: The Grade Level Championships shall be held annually on the Saturday immediately preceding Thanksgiving. The Board shall have the right to change this date when deemed necessary. (adopted November 14, 2008)
2009.01: The winner of the annual Ohio High School Championship shall be Ohio's representative to the Denker and shall receive a $250 stipend after attending. If they choose not to attend, the nest highest qualifying person shall be the rep. (adopted March 15, 2009)
2009.02: The winner of the annual Ohio Girls Championship shall be Ohio's representative to the Polgar and shall receive a $250 stipend after attending. If they choose not to attend, the nest highest qualifying person shall be the rep. (adopted March 15, 2009)
2009.03: Should the same person win the High School and Girls Championship, she may choose to attend either the Denker or Polgar and receive the stipend for that event. For the event she does not choose to attend, the next highest qualifying person for that other event shall be offered to attend and receive the stipend. (adopted March 15, 2009)
2009.04: At the Grade Level Championships, Grade Sections K, 1, and 2 shall be USCF rated. In accordance with the USCF, USCF membership is not required in any section limited to grade 3 and below. (adopted March 21, 2009)
2009.05: In all sections at State Championships events, including non-rated sections, clocks are standard. If one player provides a clock and wants to use it, the clock will be used. (adopted March 21, 2009)
2009.06: At all State Championship events, the chief Tournament Director shall be USCF certified at the Senior level or higher. (adopted March 21, 2009)
2009.07: At all State Championship events, the tournament shall be staffed by one USCF certified Tournament Director doing pairings, plus one certified Tournament Director on the floor per hundred players or fraction thereof (counting players in both rated and non-rated sections), with at least one in each playing room. (adopted March 21, 2009)
2009.08: In rated sections at State Championship events, only USCF certified Tournament Directors may make rulings on claims. Non-certified floor monitors may assist with administrative duties such as collecting results, directing players to boards, general crowd control, etc. (adopted March 21, 2009)
2009.10: Directors may submit, and
the Board may approve, proposals to organize OSCA tournaments provided they are subject to the same license fees
and other terms and conditions the Board would require of other
parties submitting proposals under the same circumstances.
2009.11: Directors shall serve on
the Board without compensation. Compensation
does not include reimbursement of actual out of pocket expenses incurred by a Director related to OSCA business, or payment of fair
market value for goods or services provided to OSCA by Directors acting in another capacity in an arms-length transaction. No payments
to Directors shall be made until after Board approval and after goods or services have been delivered.
2009.12: No Director may vote upon
a matter in which he or she has a direct
financial interest or can reasonably be expected to receive a direct financial benefit, or has a business or family relationship with any
person or entity who or which has a direct financial interest or can
reasonably be expected to receive a direct financial benefit.
